step out of the rush

I think some people are not sure whether to get bigly chilled this year.

For the love of all that is good,

Fat Freddy's Drop

Big Chill, chickens, where's the room for doubt?

... oooh, I investigated... but it looks unlikely I'm afraid. It's a little on the expensive side and it's around the time we're due to move house (which is another reason for it being too expensive). Maybe next year - it does look tasty.

This is very sad to hear. What if Fat Freddy's aren't coming next year? What if they decide it's a long way just to give you another chance to see them?

I should probably stop banging on about FFD, I will start annoying people. Not.

On another tack: I thought moving house (when it came) was about saving money (that could then by big chill tix)?

It could, but it will only save money after we've done it. The actual doing it bit that involves manoeuvring between deposits will be expensive. And the moving will be happening about the time of the festival. So unless we can somehow persuade them to move the date to September this will be tricky. Am I important enough to do that, do you think?!

But looking for a silver lining, does this mean you'll be back in London in August?

nope - we will probably fly in, meet a festival caravan on the way to gloucestershire, and on the way back leave said caravan at the junction for the airport! but that is still to be decided, like when my brother calls me or some time like that.

but in all honesty, i think you probably are that important. send them 'your keys' and the one set in the kitchen (jen's blog), maybe they'll want to collaborate.

Wow! You have so much more money than anyone I know... Or else a better ability to manage it (more likely). The big chill is over 100 quid and thats not including travel and accomidation. Apples For Everyone's bandcamp lasts for 7 days and includes accomidation and travel in the £150 price and that has taken me months to save for and offers me more "holiday time".

We nearly applied to play the big chill but the day of the competition/workshop clashed with the above mentioned band camp.

If I was going to find the insane amounts of money required for these oh so trendy festivals I'd have to do it for The Green Man as a friend of mine has been pleading for me to go to it for 5 years or so.

One day I will maybe make enough money to afford these things, but by that time I will hopefully be being booked to play them and so get in for free plus fee anyway.

I've only ever been to free festivals. I once went to glastonbury but spent all the time working outside the fence and only saw ash by accident when looking for toilets and they were not worth it.

Its a shame to be missing a possible moment of Chris exposure but since we will be in dire finacial and practical problems with moving (deposits, cash flow, van hire, navigating work and moving and probably fitting gigs and other commitments in around it all) it is pretty much a complete impossibility.

for all that it is remarkably expensive here, it's still cheaper than london. and the things that are expensive can be avoided, like new clothes. shoes are a lot cheaper in tk maxx. and the slovak crown is up againsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssaer; sorry, fell asleep. a true shame, i'll keep you posted on future movements of c-company troops.

Sounds like an exciting adventure (caravan wise, I mean)!

It'd be good if I really was that important, though a little scary too I imagine!
